The Cranberry Folk Festival is a one-day music festival on Little Cranberry Island, Maine, near Acadia National Park. The festival features local, national, and international folk, country, and bluegrass acts. This year, the event will be on Saturday, August 10th, starting at noon and finishing up around 8 pm. The event will be held out on the Islesford Town Field, overlooking the harbor. We’ll just be matching beautiful music with the beautiful surroundings! Food, t-shirts, and the artist’s merchandise will also be available. Please come out, enjoy yourself, and listen to these incredible artists!
Headlining the festival this year is acclaimed folk/country singer and author Simone Felice and his band. A native of the Catskill Mountains, he rose to fame initially writing songs and playing drums with his brothers Ian and James in The Felice Brothers. He went on to front the internationally popular The Duke and the King, and has just recently begun writing and recording simply as Simone Felice, with an eponymous debut album, and the New York Times EP. In 2009, he played drums on the Avett Brother’s acclaimed album I and Love and You.
Also playing at the festival will be a number of Maine music scene heroes. Jacob Augustine, known for his outstanding voice and emotional force, is an indie/folk singer from Lincoln. He has long been a key, if reticent, figure in the Portland music scene, and on one day in October, 2011, he released three albums- Frontier, The Original Love, and Goldyhymns. Anna Lombard sang as the frontwoman for Portland’s Gypsy Tailwind, and is now releasing her debut solo album, “Head Full of Bells.” She will be joined by Portland musicians Jon Roods and Trent Gay (Rustic Overtones, Paranoid Social Club).
A generous portion of the ticket sales will go toward the Neighborhood House Association. The Neighborhood House’s current campaign is aimed at a process of winterization. With your help, we keep filling this marvelous building, community, and island with life!
